They offered a Bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/heads-tails-or-crypto-dr-pepper-announces-first-ever-bitcoin-toss-301429193.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tuition grant<\/a> worth $23,000 as a part of Dr Pepper\u2019s Tuition Giveaway Program.&nbsp;The program is organized each year. Till date, Dr Pepper has given away $ 12 million in tuition to deserving students. This giveaway takes place as a part of the College Football Season. This time it was a coin toss that decided who walks away with college tuition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition tuition grants institutions, Ivy leagues have started to share a much larger fascination towards crypto via their <strong>curriculum and finances<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-crypto-curriculum-and-higher-education-curriculum\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Crypto_curriculum_and_higher_education_curriculum\"><\/span>Crypto curriculum and higher education curriculum<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The interest of educational institutions has peaked due the fast economic paradigm shift in the world. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlanticcouncil.org\/cbdctracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlantic council<\/a>, about 87 countries are exploring initiatives for CBDCs. Furthermore, According to <a href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DeFi Llama<\/a>, The total value locked in DeFi applications has increased over $237 Billion. PwC says that blockchain will add $1.8 trillion to the global GDP. Additionally, Deloitte found that 83% of businesses are either exploring\/  working with blockchain technology. This indicates that the use cases of blockchain are only starting to reveal themselves. Therefore, Ivy leagues have started inculcating blockchain and cryptocurrency coursework as crypto is set to explode in the next decade.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In October this year, Wharton University of Pennsylvania <a href=\"https:\/\/news.wharton.upenn.edu\/press-releases\/2021\/10\/wharton-launches-economics-of-blockchain-and-digital-assets-executive-education-online-certificate-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> the Economics of Block chain and Digital Asset Certificate Program. To do this, they partnered with partnered with a leading block chain economics consulting firm called, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prysmgroup.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prysm Group<\/a>. Moreover, they announced a partnership with Coinbase to allow students to pay for tuition with cryptocurrencies. Following ivy league&#8217;s footsteps university, more institutions are expected to follow the trend.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-crypto-finances-and-higher-education-institutions\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Crypto_finances_and_higher_education_institutions\"><\/span>Crypto finances and higher education institutions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the Ivy League&#8217;s interest in cryptocurrencies curriculum, they are also looking at investment opportunities. Institutions like Harvard, Yale and Brown have been quick to invest in cryptocurrencies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given that, Harvard has the largest endowment fund clocking over $40 billion in assets. Followed by Yale, Michigan and Brown with $30 billion, $12.5 billion, and $4.7 billion, respectively. Back in 2018, Yale had<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2018\/10\/05\/yale-university-said-to-invest-in-400-million-paradigm-crypto-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> backed<\/a> two crypto-focused venture funds. This was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/harvard-stanford-mit-endowments-invest-in-crypto-funds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">followed by<\/a> Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Dartmouth, University of North Carolina and Michigan.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, university endowment funds <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhodl.com\/2021\/01\/28\/ivy-league-universities-betting-on-bitcoin-with-harvard-yale-and-brown-endowments-on-board-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have invested<\/a> larger portions of their assets in cryptocurrencies.
