The ongoing vaccination drive in India with a population of 1.4 billion is no walk in the park. It requires a lot of planning, infrastructure, logistics and financing. Hyderabad based Tanla platforms has assisted the government in facilitating a smooth communication line.
CoWin integrated with Blockchain
Tanla Platforms developed a Blockchain-based Communication Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) to disseminate information efficiently. It really was the link between CoWin, India’s national vaccination portal and the vaccine recipient. The government’s official website allows easy navigation to find vaccination centres and showing which vaccines are available. It provides the statistics of the drive in a very transparent manner. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare operates the portal. A senior minister even said CoWin can be customised and scaled up for global usage.
When you book a vaccination slot, you immediately receive a text message to confirm your appointment. Following which, you receive another text message with the link to your vaccination certificate, once your dose has been administered.

It was even able to keep up with the peaks of the drive, constantly adapting to the dynamic demand. It came through in the need of the hour. At one point, the government was handling 30,000 vaccine transactions per second. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) mandates the usage of the blockchain.
Apart from this, the company deals with 65% of the 40 billion instances of the communication happening monthly. It authenticates the messages sent by different telephone service providers and telemarketers to the customers.
