Ripple (XRP) Price Prediction

What is XRP?

XRP is a crypto asset specifically designed to revolutionize global money transfers by making them faster, more cost-effective, and more inclusive. Its primary focus is cross-border payments, enabling near-instant, low-fee transactions without requiring trust between parties. Unlike most decentralized crypto assets, XRP is issued and managed by Ripple — a company set on modernizing outdated systems like SWIFT. Also, unlike Bitcoin, XRP isn’t mined; it was fully pre-issued.

Recently, XRP saw a notable price surge, outpacing several major digital assets. The rally followed a pivotal U.S. court decision stating that a particular sale of XRP did not constitute an investment contract. This legal clarity pushed its price close to $0.94 before it stabilized around $0.82.

XRP Technical Indicators

When XRP was launched, a total of 100 billion tokens were created, and this supply has remained constant ever since. As a pre-mined crypto, only a fraction of these tokens were initially released for trading on crypto exchanges. The network utilizes 55 smart contracts to gradually release one billion tokens each month over a period of 55 months, which has brought the current circulating supply to about 59.06 billion tokens. Notably, more than 60% of the total XRP supply is held by the top 100 crypto wallets, with Ripple itself owning 6.5 billion tokens—this concentration has sparked debates about XRP’s level of decentralization.

Additionally, the total XRP supply has slightly declined to 99.98 billion due to the burning of transaction fees every time a transfer is completed.

Ripple Lawsuit with the SEC

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had pursued a case against Ripple and its executives, alleging a $1.3 billion unregistered securities offering through sales of the XRP crypto asset. While the SEC has a history of over 100 crypto-related enforcement actions, often classifying various tokens as securities and frequently ending in settlements, the Ripple case saw a significant development.

In a landmark ruling, a U.S. judge determined that Ripple did not violate federal securities laws when selling XRP on exchanges, a considerable victory for the broader crypto sector that caused XRP’s price to surge, briefly touching $0.94 before stabilizing around $0.82. However, the ruling was a partial win for the SEC, as the judge also found that $728.9 million worth of XRP sales to institutional buyers, like hedge funds, did indeed constitute unregistered securities sales. This mixed outcome nonetheless bolstered investor confidence, pushing XRP’s value closer to the $1 mark.

A key turning point for Ripple came in August 2024, when the court officially ruled that XRP, when traded publicly, is not a security. Despite this, Ripple was subject to a $125 million fine for its direct institutional sales, a decision that still reignited optimism among XRP supporters. As of June 2025, the legal battle is no longer ongoing in the same way, as the SEC has officially dropped its appeal against Ripple, and a settlement has been reached. Ripple is set to pay a $50 million penalty, with the remainder of the initial $125 million fine to be returned to the company. This settlement also includes an agreement for enhanced disclosure protocols for institutional XRP sales over the next five years, aiming for complete regulatory compliance by 2029. This resolution provides significant clarity on XRP’s status as a non-security in programmatic sales.

XRP Price Prediction 2025

XRP can capitalize on its gains in the cross-border transaction market in 2025, as the Remittances market is growing every year. The XRP network is projected to grow exponentially in 2025 due to its fast transactions and low fees. The highest projected price of XRP for 2025 is $3.39, but a global macro crisis can bring it down to $2.47, making an average price prediction of $2.9.
